This Privacy Policy explains how Cookember (“Cookember,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Cookember mobile application and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider to create and identify your account. We do not receive your social account password.
Recipe inputs. The ingredients you enter and any food photos you upload to generate or parse recipes.
Content you create. Recipes you generate, save, like, or make public, and any related preferences.
Support communications. Information you send us when you contact support.

Information collected automatically

Usage data. Basic interactions with the app, such as recipes viewed or generated, used to operate features like quotas and trending.
Diagnostics. Crash reports and error logs to help us keep the app stable and secure.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide core features — generating recipes and images from your ingredients, parsing food photos, and saving content to your account.
To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
To enforce usage limits associated with your subscription tier.
To power social features such as browsing, searching, liking, and trending public recipes.
To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
To respond to your support requests.

3. AI Processing

Recipe generation, image generation, and photo ingredient parsing are performed by third-party AI providers (which may include Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google). When you use these features, the ingredients or photos you submit are sent to the applicable provider to produce a result. We do not use your inputs to train our own models.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following categories of service providers to operate Cookember:

Authentication: Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In.
AI providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google, for recipe text, image, and vision features.
Image storage: Cloudflare R2, where generated recipe images are stored.
Subscriptions & billing: RevenueCat together with the Apple App Store and Google Play, which process your subscription and payment. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Diagnostics: error-monitoring tools that collect crash and performance data.

These providers process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the policies of Google, Apple, and RevenueCat for more detail on their practices.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers described above as needed to run the Service, when required by law or to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer. Recipes you choose to make public, along with the associated display name, are visible to other users.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data and associated content, except where we must retain certain records to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Account deletion. You can delete your account from within the app, which removes your personal data and content as described above.
Access & correction. You may contact us to request access to or correction of your personal information.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.

8. Children’s Privacy

Cookember is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including by the service providers listed above. By using the Service, you consent to such processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may be communicated through the app.
